California Cottages + Dream Homes

Stuga Properties, where the charm of yesteryear meets modern convenience and ecological awareness.

Founded by California Broker Sheri Matigan, Stuga Properties was inspired by a love for the enchanted cottages of Carmel and Laguna Beach, and a fascination with the fairytale quaintness of Swedish Stuga cottages.

Our mission is twofold:

The Stuga company personality:
Here at Stuga Properties, the use of environmentally friendly building techniques takes center stage. We pay close attention to:

Why cottages?

The average home size has increased more than 138% since the 1950's, and has more than quadrupled for the affluent. In the early 1900's, a 2,200 square foot family home was the mark of prosperity. By the year 2000, it was not unusual to find just two people living in a 6,000 square foot home.

Now the tide has turned. Not only has there been a backlash against that kind of conspicuous consumption, homeowners have become weary of the disadvantages of owning and maintaining what have become known as "McMansions."

Stuga Properties' California Cottages/Dream Homes offer true luxury - the kind that's found in comfort, solace, and connection.

While mansions offer every family member their own private living space, our cottage homes offer the opportunity for togetherness and family interaction while easing the financial burden of home ownership.

It simply costs less to purchase, furnish, heat, cool, clean, and maintain a cottage than a castle. And of course, the less energy you consume and the fewer fixtures and furnishings you buy, the better it is for the environment.

Are you ready to relax and enjoy life?

If you're tired of spending every waking moment earning enough to care for an oversized home, come and see how Stuga Properties' California Cottages can give you back both your leisure and your family time...

About Our Broker - Sheri Matigan

Sheri began her association with real estate as a title officer 26 years ago. Her fascination grew, and she has been investing in California real estate since 2002. She enjoys finding the perfect lot and building from scratch, but her true passion lies in taking a home that has been ignored, abused, or misused and turning it into an energy efficient work of art.

Licensed in 2006, she went on to obtain a Master's degree in Real Estate and Construction Management before becoming a broker in 2014.

If you have a California Cottage to sell, call her. She'll market and sell it with a passion that can only be found in someone who truly loves these precious icons of the past.
